Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type method

I get this in my kernel log. I've searched a bit and found one entry in the kernel mailing list stating that this warning seems to be harmless. Is this still the case, and is there a solution?

kernel: ata2.00: ATAPI: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1P, KL0A, max UDMA/66
kernel: ata2.00: limited to UDMA/33 due to 40-wire cable
kernel: ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33
kernel: scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA WDC WD800BB-22JH 05.0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
kernel: scsi 1:0:0:0: CD-ROM LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1P KL0A PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
kernel: Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type methods
...
kernel: sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 < sda5<4>Driver 'sr' needs updating - please use bus_type methods

Don't panic!

It's harmless. I guess the devs will get around to updating the driver soon enough.

It's a warning from one kernel developer intended to be read by another kernel developer. You're not the intended audience.

Re: Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type method

May not be the intended audience but for some dumb reason, it might be why my computer keeps swapping sda with sdb and vice versa... I end up with the "FILESYSTEM CHECK FAILED" error on boot up of arch linux. To fix my problem I enter in root password, mount the boot disk as rw, and then edit /etc/fstab to swap /dev/sda and /dev/sdb around ... Save and restart and walla problem solved. Until next boot. Then the problem comes all over again swapping sda with sdb. sad It's not a real issue as I will have to take out the pata drive anyway....

Re: Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type method

This is the solution if your device nodes keep changing. The error you mention has nothing to do with it.
