I am running gnome. After some twaeks (I have no clue), fonts in my qt apps have been corrupted. This is how my skype looks:
Any other qt app looks more or less the same (including qtconfig). I am desperate to fix it. Any hints?
When I run these applications under ratpoison, with the same xorg.conf, they look perfectly ok. So it must be that gnome does something to these fonts.
I have tried erasing all files and directories with .font* prefix and .qt* in my home directory, but this does not help.
UPDATE: I have noticed that not all Qt applications are affected. qtconfig, skype and vlc are, but krite or kword seem to be doing fine. I do not know Qt intricacies, so I would not know in which way these differ, to be able to narrow down the problem better.

You have sub-pixel antialiasing set to a vertical RGB/GBR. Use horizontal instead.

This is truly amazing. It works! Thank you so much. I cannot see how possibly ever I could discover this myself
