Hi,
all function buttons on my Thinkpad T60 works just fine. My only problem ist that, if I change the volume (up,down, mute) with the special IBM keys the volume is changed on the hardware side. So I get no feedback from an OSD screen and the software volume mixer is also no changed. Does anybody know how to change that so that the software mixer ist used instead of the hardware mixer?
Thanks

...when I was searching for solutions to get my special buttons working (also a T60) I think I read about a possibility to map the volume buttons to the software mixer using some AUR based package! Unfotunately I don't seem to remember where I found it... Google is UR best friend here... ;-)
@CannyDuck: Dude, how did U get the buttons working? I'm trying and trying using evdev, thinkpad-acpi, fdi files but it won't quite work. Apart from that Arch works like a charm.

I just installed the thinkpad-acpi and added thinkpad_acpi to the modules section in /etc/rc.conf.
Maybe this thread will bei helpfull for you: http://www.archlinux.it/wiki/index.php? … inkpad_T41
This article also discribes the solution for my problem. You have to use this command
echo enable,0x00ffffff > /proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey
to map all keys to software handling. So the software volume controller is used. :-)
