What's KDE Activities?

Hi,

Sounds more than a bit dumb, but I can't find any practical clue. Where am I supposed to start with the feature ?

Follow the big kidney and zoom out...

I tried it once just for the hell of it... The thing gave me 100% CPU load, so I dropped further investigations. It still gives me 100% load .

I've got one checkered blank with my only existing activity (Desktop) in the upper left corner. I can explore its properties, but can't add a new activity. No cachew, no way to add activity...
