Set proxy

As I say previously (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=98632)
I'm still working to setup a real working machine with arch.

I'm the only *nix user over a windows server domain.
Proxy server is my hell!
I'm unable to set the proxy (with autenticathion) for all.

I've try networkmanager and netcfg wiythnpoor result.
I've also read this without fortune (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Proxy_settings)

Time by time proxy won't work for all (except firefox with it's annoyng auth mask each time I start it..)

I still looking for a method se globally set proxy and proxy autenticathion.
Again..hope in your help
;-)

Thank you in advance!
Alex

Re: Set proxy

Unfortunately, the problem with proxies is that there's no standard when you write an application. Each library has a different way to be configured, making each program getting the configuration from some different place. So, each application will have to be treated separately. What applications are you having problems with? I am behind a proxy at work too, so maybe I can help you.

Satisfied users don't rant, so you'll never know how many of us there are.

Re: Set proxy

if you are behind a MS ISA Server, you will most likely be stuck. you can use ntlmaps http://ntlmaps.sourceforge.net/ so that apps which dont have built-in ntlm auth capabilities can still connect.

for all other applications, if the proxy allows socks5, use can use tsocks.
