Looks like something is a bit broken there... Can you file a bug report?

I have opened new bug: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12022
I hope I have understood you correctly

I get the same error. I didn't get it before updating to 1.2.8-1 so I guess its a problem with this version of miro only.
Offline
Same problem here. I hope my Miro database isn't hosed by this. It'd take me hours to get it how I had previously.

Anybody have the previous i686 miro in their cache? Going without Miro for me is like going without a web browser for most other people.

Thanks Enredante! I tried but it's still broke. Looks like whatever was upgraded at the same time near Miro broke it.
PicklingError: Can't pickle storedatabase.SavableObject: import of module storedatabase failed
Wasn't there a recent update to pysqlite?

I *realllllly* hope I can avoid that. I had probably 300 things downloaded across 75 channels. It'd take me forever to find feed links and re-download alot of this stuff. Especially Mevio stuff.

Well, the videos are still there, just not linked to the channels. Check the folder you use for miro downloads. It should be possible to get at least the names of all your channels, because miro downloads them into individual subfolders.

yes that is not really a solution. I did a rebuild of the 1.2.7 series but it has the same issues, as well as 1.2trunk. I'll look deeper into it early next week, I probably won't have time to really digg into this issue earlier. Any help is appreciated of course.
The problem looks to be in the database somewhere so if you are affraid to lose your channels I suggest backing them up. I suppose your videos will be safe.

Looking ~/.miro/ ... it would appear Miro insists that the previous database is corrupted. You have to make a serious effort to corrupt a SQLite3 database. So I call ballocks on that.
In fact, you can nuke ~/.miro/ and it *still* complains about a corrupted database.
Does anybody have any version of the following OTHER THAN 2.4.1-2?:
extra/python-pysqlite
Because I think it's the culprit here.

I dug up an old PKGBUILD of pysqlite-1.3.5 .... and that's not it.
It's got to be a Python issue. I didn't even notice the Python 2.6 update. I'm still sort use to Gentoo where they don't dare update beyond Python 2.4 because everything Python related on the planet starts breaking like this.
Anybody have a i686 pkg.tar.gz of Python 2.5? I've really got to stop having Shaman automatically clean out old .pkg.tar.gz files. Things break too frequently not to.

Miro is hosed, looks like I've lost my channels too! can't believe the package made it through testing, this is sad :-(
Offline
Looks to me like this HAS to be a problem with all those Python updates that came down the pipe. Either Miro is not coded for changes that happened in Python 2.6 .... or there's a problem in the Python 2.6 packages.
Either way -- somebody forgot to simply RUN Miro with the new Python packages in [testing] before pushing them out. It seems impossible for Miro to not crash with current python packages, even if you rm ~/.miro/

Yeah looks like Miro was somehow not run with Python 2.6. Was following the Python 2.6 move thread on Dev mailing list, but don't remember anybody mentioning Miro as a problem.
I've a backup of the database from a few weeks ago, but i'm sure there are plenty of users out there who may have to rebuild their channel list! Should push Miro developers to make sure something like this doesn't happen in future.
Offline
Well i still can use miro, but all my channels are lost, but i still have my videos!!:)

Is it saving your channels? I tried to rebuild my channel list from scratch and it won't even save/load them properly.
This is infuriating.

I just talked to the Miro team, and Miro flat out does not work with Python 2.6. They haven't even begun work on making it work with 2.6 either.
Can we get Arch to roll back to Python 2.5? Or at least provide PKGBUILDS of all the previously working 2.5 python builds?
It seems like every major upgrade (during the last half year I've used Arch) leads to this sort of upheavel. KDE 4.1. Python 2.6. Early kernel 2.6.26. And so on. I need to go on the offensive to get things in control again. I'll press a laptop into service as a test machine running testing ... but I think maybe more is needed.
If Arch Devs are unwilling to roll back or provide PKGBUILDS of Python 2.5 .... is anybody interested in helping me form an Arch "Rollback" site? It seems like having a site that represents all the ArchLinux main repos ... as of two weeks ago ... would be TREMENDOUSLY useful for things that somehow got out of testing like this.

do you know if it would still work with python 2.4 or would this also require extensive patching?
Offline
For the longest time they used it with 2.4 on Gentoo. Only recently did Gentoo upgrade to Python 2.5 ... and they did it with a hybrid approach, where both 2.4 and 2.5 are resident on the system. (Portage breaks in Python 2.5)
I'd recommend Python 2.5 .... but 2.4 should be serviceable if we cheat heavily off Gentoo's bug report on Miro. Which, I assure you, is the longest god forsaken bug report OF ALL TIME. (Miro STILL isn't in portage ... and stuff like that is a big reason I went to Arch on the desktop.)

Arch and Miro had no problem with Python 2.5 if i'm correct. Since no other package is acting up with Python 2.6, it makes no sense to rollback for just one package.
Is it possible to package Miro with just the required python 2.5 files and push it down as a single package?
It surely is a horrible way of packaging things, but sticking with 2.5 for the whole system can begin to throw up problems with other packages

Levelator, a package I maintain in AUR, is totally hopeless with Python 2.6 right now. There's *alot* of stuff out there made with Python that simply won't work with Python 2.6.

Hi georgia_tech_swagger
do you follow the dev mailing list?, There was some discussion about Python 2.6 and packages that had issues with it,.
