ArchInstaller 2009.01

Hi I was just wondering how I can go about using the new ArchInstaller for installing on my Laptop. Now that the 2.6.28 kernel has hit the main repos I'm feelin the need for Arch again wink

Re: ArchInstaller 2009.01

Is there a new core dump / installer available? I still get 2008.06 when I download from the download page. I remember hearing that the install scripts would be modified to allow for more custom installs, so I'd be greatly interested in seeing a new IMG file too.

I guess the best method for obtaining the 2009.01 iso is to wait for it to be made/released...

Okay.... Does that mean that there will be one? There isn't all that much left of 01...

From experience, don't take my word as final, expect something for the end of the week or start of the next one.

Those are for internal testing and probably should not be used outside a testing environment.  You will also hammer our bandwidth which is not a good thing...

Please wait a couple of days for fixed versions to be on your mirrors.

Re: ArchInstaller 2009.01

patience... you'll only end up finding a problem with the installer and asking why.

Useless to hammer their bandwith, let's simply wait for it to be final smile

Re: ArchInstaller 2009.01

From Aaron, today on the arch-releng list:

If all goes well, I'll build and release the final 2009.01 release on Wed or so.

So it looks like it will still be 2009.01

If you're really impatient (as I am wink ), take a look here http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch … hread.html

You can follow the developers' track there. But still, it's done when its done!

Re: ArchInstaller 2009.01

Well, I'm willing to help testing the new install cd, but as I get a GRUB read error message (without number, that is), I'm not able to boot the ISO from USB image on my Asus EEE Box B202. I google'd around for a solution, but anything that looked promising didn't work out (still getting GRUB Stage 1.5/2/etc. Read Error).

But... If someone can tell me (or point me to a relevant page) how to make an Isolinux of Syslinux image from a GRUB ISO, I am able to boot the flash disc and give the installer a try (you can do this on the list, too, I'm subsribed to [arch-releng]).

Re: ArchInstaller 2009.01

Ok, I followed these guidelines to install the ISO image onto my USB disc, but booting through USB is horribly slow. As I need some sleep now (and work tomorrow), it won't be until tomorrow evening (actually, this evening) when I can test the image.
