i have latest kdemod x86_64 before that i have i686 since i have seperate home partition when i moved to x86_64 i just repointed my home partition.
the install asked me if i want to chown venky.users and i said yes.
I removed .kdemod4 folder so i had no kde specific config, but now i cannot launch anything with kdesu for example
$ kdesu kwrite just pops up and asks for password and then after i enter password nothing happens
i have confirmed kdesud is indeed running as a daemon
if i do sudo kwrite i have no issues.
Thanks

i found the issue, it was one of the xorg group packages, earlier had only xorg-server xf86-input-keyboard xf86-input-mouse and xf86-video-ati installed
so in short install everything from xorg group otherwise u will have issues which no one here will answer or care to answer.

What do you mean on xorg group packages? I started with pacman -S xorg, and it installed its group. I even have only keyboard and mouse and the group xorg said before installed, and the nvidia driver. Exactly which pacman command solved your problem? I've heard, that it's the x86_64 qt 4.5.3-2 bug in arch.

I notice this yesterday, but thought it was a problem with my kernel since I was using a custom kernel that I compiled.

it was xorg-xinit it should be a dependency of kdebase-runtime (provides kdesu) package please see this http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=1448

xinit was the one of the first things I installed. I only miss some drivers (input and video, even lacks nv, coz Nvidia driver only), and they're not even in the full xorg group (as the keyboard and mouse wasn't even)
People say it's the qt 4.5.3-2 but I even experience this at 4.5.3-3. And in addition, with the newest kde latest update konqueror fails on some youtube videos, only black hole instead (even after refreshes, but not all youtube videos), but that worked perfect since kde 4.2.0. Hopefully it will be good soon. But if someone has an idea. Anyway xorg.log only wrote warnings, that not using mouse0 and keyboard0, and not starting acpid (I have desktop pc, not laptop), so I don't think it's a xorg issue.

and for me on 4.5.3-2 first time worked, after 2 hours went wrong

The solution is: systerm settings ----> personal: about me ---> At password prompt: set show 3 bullets to show one bullet for each letter
It didn't appeared in kubuntu forums... who uses kubuntu, doesn't even know about this feature (and where to set), and I would be surprised there would be qt 4.5.3 already
