Hello
Twice today when rebooting I got stuck on the shutting down page and had to kill all by holding down the off button so that I could reboot, which incendently rebooted correctly
I took a couple of screen photos, not sure if that will tell you all what and why
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
PS running kernel 6.8.2-arch2-1
all up to date , did a -Syu earlier today

I have the exact same problem since yesterday.
I tried linux and linux-lts : same problem.
During the update I got the error "Timed out for waiting the udev queue being empty" (tracked here).
Maybe it is related. You can check if you also got the error with the following command :
cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep "Timed out"
Do you also have this error ? (if the output is empty you do not have it)
I got both problems on my laptop (the shutdown hang and the udev error), but not on my main computer (also updated).

It seems to be linked to this
Tried reinstalling a program
Got stuck at '(2/5) Reloading device manager configuration...' for about 2 mins
three times I have seen this message hanging for a couple of minutes and everytime the shutdown didn't finish correctly
(1/5) Reloading user manager configuration...
(2/5) Reloading device manager configuration...
Timed out for waiting the udev queue being empty.
error: command failed to execute correctly
(3/5) Arming ConditionNeedsUpdate...
(4/5) Reloading system bus configuration...
(5/5) Compiling GSettings XML schema files...
[trevor@trevor-arch ~]$
Even with a Power Of rather than a restart it hangs

Hello, I'm using KDE6 Wayland and NVIDIA proprietary driver. I had a similar problem too.
I rolled back to linux 6.8.1.arch1-1, linux-headers 6.8.1.arch1-1 and nvidia 550.67-1, everything is back to normal so far.
So I think it might be a kernel issue.

I think that may be correct, as this is a very new problem (only seen if from today) so might be linked to the kernel update
Not to worried, I'll wait a while and see if the next kernel update changes anything

I rolled back the kernel and it fixed the problem for me.
You can add a "[SOLVED]" prefix in the title of this thread if it also solved the problem for you.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=294377 is more users w/ 6.8.1.arch2-1 shutdown/reboot issues.
Just to be sure, the "i"'s are you pressing the key out of frust for investigative purposes?

As it looks like this is due to the latest kernel, I'll mark it as solved
While awaiting a new version to see if it gets fixed

As I noted in my thread, a temporary solution (if it is the same issue) is to disable Bluetooth in the UEFI menu. Of course, downgrading the kernel is another option.

My issue is similar, but I've read elsewhere, that this had been resolved in kernel 6.8.3. Unfortunately I still have this on kernel 6.8.9...

Likewise?
a temporary solution (if it is the same issue) is to disable Bluetooth in the UEFI menu
Or is this rather https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=293400 (nvidia 550xx specific issue)?
Or maybe your overall (RAM/CPU related?) instabilty?

Not sure which issue exactly am I having, but it's very annoying and possibly the culprit for damaging my laptop's speakers, as they aren't working since one of the hard resets. If I disable Bluetooth, then I won't be able to connect to my headphones. In any case I believe I don't have such an option in my UEFI.
