Hello, everyone!
Well, I have recently turned to Arch just because I like its taste and philosophy. Currently I have set up almost everything. But the trouble is, OpenOffice is not working well. That is, the menu and toolbar do not repaint itself unless I resize the window. I have googled for some possibility answers, and I tried to
export OOO_DESKTOP.....=gnome
something like that, it make the gtk-qt-engine work, but still do not help for my problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Or maybe it is related to my vesa driver? I cannot use intel driver, I do not know why!
Thank you!

you're prolly using the qtcurve theme, which indeed renders the open office menubar invisible.
Either use a different theme (Clearlook from Gnome is quite OK). Or do the following:
- uninstall gtk-qt-engine
- install gnome-control-center
- install gnome themes
- use gnome control center to set correct layout (for all GTK2 apps)
- make gnome-settings-daemon startup in your user session
Using the Gnome thingy is a bit of a heavy weight solution, otoh, gtk-qt-engine has caused some trouble more than once, also in KDE3

I have absolutely no problem with qtcurve, but I did have a problem with gtk-qt-engine, so I tried the kde4-oxygen theme in AUR and I like it best.

Thank you! I think I have dealt wit this by using kde4-oxygen package!

export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome
never worked properly for me.
Lately I came across this : http://forum.kde.org/openoffice-and-gtk … 27199.html
add :
export SAL_GTK_USE_PIXMAPPAINT=1
to your /etc/profile. In KDE4 systemsettings, make sure "use my KDE style in GTK applications" is selected in Appearance > GTK styles and fonts.
Voilà!

Wow! This actually works... well, getting closer, actually; the menus show up. I still see minor artifacts in scroll bars, menus and buttons. Same thing in Firefox (here tabs, too) which work fine before. Other GTK apps are themes flawlessly. Anyone else experiencing this?

Please write this down to our OOo wikipage!

Yes, it's not perfect in OpenOffice : menus have squared corners (default KDE 4 gives rounded corners). I haven't seens artefacts in scroll bars. Firefox works fine (I do not use it much, so there may be some minro glitches I haven't noticed).
