I see that I'm not using any of it. But I also have 16GB of ram and normally use around 12-14.

I tried some solutions on web; but to no avail! What should I test?
Thank you

. Because yay was not working properly. No idea if it's related or not. Anyway thanks for the support.

Here's the link: http://0x0.st/Xrav.txt
It took a while before I figured out how to update the firmware but I succeeded. What I notice is that the cut here part is gone and now it registers both devices. Consequently, I now get a display from my GPU directly instead of my motherboard. Unfortunately, the card does not work for gaming as it still defaults to my internal graphics. The fans of my GPU spin briefly during booting but then stop and remain unmoved even during gameplay. Do you have any suggestions to resolve this?
]]>That's besides the point - you can ask anything and everyone, including chatgpt, for an opinion to advance your research.
The problems start when you take it at face value because aisosmart and make things worse. The thing only knows that people who've said things similar to your question also said other things. On topic: did you check for the coredumps and/or your system journal?
And was this actually a one-off or does xfdesktop continue to crash/fail on login?
I guess it's a one-time situation. After running this code "xfdesktop --reload" everything was fixed

And no, the parameter to test would still be "noresume" - there's no partition w/ the UUID 8cf2644b-4b0b-428f-9387-6d876050dc67 and we also don't know where this is coming from.
Looks much better now:
FYI in the end, I followed this great guide https://www.nishantnadkarni.tech/posts/ … tallation/. Timeshift is now working like a charm.
Hi there!
Is there any different URL for this guide?
The one you posted refers to domain now available for purchase.
I am an Arch newbie coming from MacOS and I am trying to have a kinda "Time Machine" backup system.
Can you kindly point me to some readings where I can start?
Many thanks in advance!
]]>CRITICAL: [dbus_cb_name_lost:1175] Cannot acquire 'org.freedesktop.Notifications': Name is acquired by 'dunst' with PID '2837'.
Where does that come from (process name in the journal?) - something else still tries to become the notification server.
The KDE service should probably contain some OnlyShowIn, NotShowIn key, but you can try to override it in /etc/dbus-1/services/org.kde.plasma.Notifications.service
[D-BUS Service]

But now I just updated and I can't downgrade to 32-2 because of conflicting versions so it's time to actually solve the issue.
I tried to find an actual solution many times since then but no one seemed to have the same issue. I have changed many laptops since then (same ssd) and all of them had the same issue.
What do I do now? If I shut the laptop down I won't be able to log back in so I'd have to use a live arch usb.
EDIT: I just found the bad version from pacman.log (I found the time I started downgrading mkinitcpio). It's 33-1.
EDIT: SOLVED: In order to swap the escape and caps lock keys (vim user) I had set my vconsole KEYMAP equal to a keymap that only defined those two keys. It worked with the old mkinitcpio version but when i upgraded they had changed the behavior of the keymap variable in the terminal. Thus the only functioning keys were the caps lock and escape keys. Explains why no one else had the same problem.
]]>I've been using Arch for the past couple of weeks, and recently noticed that my webcam doesn't give any video input to most of the apps.
It's a Genius iSlim 310.
I have read this - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/webcam_setup and figured that I have to enable a couple of kernel driver modules,
namely "gspca_main" and "gspca_pac7302", but it didn't fix anything, so I kind of just forgot about it for a bit.
However, recently, I found "guvcview". Decided to try it, installed via pacman, and it just works.
The apps I'm trying to use the webcam in (Firefox and Discord) aren't flatpaks, so it's not related to sandboxing.
Moreover, I borrowed a different, UVC webcam, and it worked first try everywhere.
All forum posts I've found related to this are old and never were answered, so, I'm here.
Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.
