Hilariously, these capchas have alt text that contains the content of the capcha, so that text browsers can log in...
Oh, yes. I forgot about that. Perhaps because it did seldom work here (well, I didn't try for quite some time now). And in most cases there surely was no alt text.
And, yes, it is hilarious. Anybody could use the alt text, especially those who are meant to be kept out by the captcha. Makes no sense to me altogether.

I see. And why not stick with the old mechanism? I assume there must have been a reason.
After all, captchas are severe obstacles whenever you use text-only browsers (which I have to from time to time).

I'd assume because some users found it almost impossible to solve the old mechanism
Then I say let those users sit there and be confused My convenience over others'!

we had other implementation in the past. Forgot the question, For which distribution is this forum?
I don't understand your question. Are you suggesting that as Arch users, we should just cook up some css userstyle or something to unhide the capchas in order to get around a fluxbb feature that is obviously broken?

Actually, I've seen quite a few spammers in the last couple weeks, maybe the bots aren't far away. The Machines are probably just waiting for the opportunity to destroy Zion! ;P
I just saw a spammer yesterday that was advertising help on homework...

Actually, that post dates when we were using phpbb. phpbb was ignoring mismatched tags but on punbb/fluxbb they mess up the formatting. Usually removing the extra tag fixes the problem.
