I had this issue today because an electricity-outage forced the network to assign a new ip to my NAS.
]]>i'm new in posting in these forums (i used to find everything in this great community until now)...
i used to mount the network shares by fstab:
//192.168.0.20/porn /home/porn cifs guest,auto,users 0 1
this was never a problem. the network share used to be mounted whether the other computer was online or offline. when i opened the folder in a file manager, i could either see an empty folder or the shared files.
but since several days, i get the following message when booting or when typing "mount -a" if the other computer is offline:
mount error(113): No route to host
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
how can i avoid this message without mounting manually using "mount -a" and without using autofs?
it worked for several months, but it doesn't any more...
greets, phil
edit: i hope it's the right forum.
edit #2:
i forgot to mention: since mounting doesn't work like that any more, unmounting of network filesystems takes ages when the other computer is offline.
