- It lists the recent comments from the AUR page for whatever package you're installing
- You can selectively install packages during a complete upgrade, in case you don't want to wait for that one big package to compile just yet
- It asks for confirmation enough times to remind me I'm doing this at my own risk
I've played around with clyde, tupac, bauerbill, and cower, and they've all got their ups and downs. Play around yourself and see what you like.
I use aurget. I like the fact that I can keep the official repos and AUR separate. I never really felt like using those swiss army knives you guys call AUR helpers
I'd go for brisbin's aurget as well. It keeps my official repos/packages separate from aur and I like that.
Have either of you guys checked out pacsync yet? I've been meaning to give it a try; it apparently allows a user to create virtual metapackages to aid organization.
]]> - simple (KISS)
- a bash script (approximately 1000 lines)
- code is very clean
- similar output as pacman
- similar colours as pacman-color
- options are similar to pacman
- -Sp prints the PKGBUILD for a package
- --devel option updates any VCS (git/bzr/hg etc) packages
- fast
- easy to spell
But but - don't we have this kind of thread already? There's some collectibles thread about all AUR helpers, past und present.
Some lazy mod neglected to search before posting https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=14865

]]>Going to check out cower now .
Wow, cower is pretty sweet, nice and simple. I'm sold.
clyde -Ss firefox-pgo 0.32s user 0.14s system 44% cpu 1.038 total
cower -s firefox-pgo 0.01s user 0.00s system 1% cpu 0.951 total
yaourt -Ss firefox-pgo 0.23s user 0.15s system 33% cpu 1.142 total
They all basically do the same thing... so I just use what's fast and light on dependencies.
]]>Personally, I like surfraw
