]]>maybe he could boot from a LiveCD, change the root password on the LiveCD to something he wants and then copy the respective part of /etc/shadow?
]]>I think you might be able to change it by logging into single mode. Once in Grub choose whatever option it is to add boot parameters and add 'single' to the end of the line.
Will this not ask for a root password?
]]>This changed my password, but not to what I typed in. Now my original password doesn't work, nor the new password I typed in. Just wondered if anybody new anything.
