I had the same issue. The two solutions posted above didn't work. This is what I did to solve that:
[This worked for me probably because my /lib folder had not been deleted]1.booted with SysrescueCd Usb stick and mounted my linux partition somewhere (maybe you can avoid the livecd if you can use the other solutions above)
2.copied /var/cache/pacman/pkg/glibc-2.15-6-i686.pkg.tar.xz to / [this is MY old glibc before the update, fortunately I still had it, otherwise you will find an old version here: http://schlunix.org/archlinux/core/os/i … pkg.tar.xz It also has other versions.]
3. extracted the package there with "tar xvf glibc-2.15-6-i686.pkg.tar.xz"
4.that's it! rebooted and worked. after that I updated following the guide.
Oh man, great, thanks for this, you've saved my system, as the fix solutions failed for me as well.
Many thanks.

Don't hijack someone else's thread to ask a question, it's very rude.
OP: Do you get an actual kernel panic or just no input is registered?

Followed by kernel panic. I am downloading the Arch x86 ISO now to put on to a USB stick, if anyone could help me step by step with what do I'd really appreciate it! I hope I don't have to reinstall, grr. Thanks for any help.
