acpi=off is a MUST, otherwise there is a hardware error saying something about the CPU 5 bank 5 is broken.
No matter what I add ti the mkinitcpio.conf regarding MODULES make no difference.
All this and I still have no working keyboard after bootup. The cursor just blinks and I cannot continue with the installation of Arch Linux.
I'm am stuck.
]]>@chris_l : I started my installation without the /etc/rc.conf. But when I added stuff in section HOOKS in the /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, I got errors telling me I didn't have any rc.conf... Thats why I added it. I will remove and try again.
@akspecs: Yes, I use the latest media dated 2012.11.01. I'm suspecting that the MODULES in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf contains the wrong modules. I have not found a good reference for what modules are needed for an Apple MacBook Pro 5,3.

After searching the arch forum and elsewhere, I have tried to add these as boot arguments :
NEEDUSB=auto
radeon.modeset=0
intel.modeset=0
noapic
acpi=off
I have tried to add all kinds of modules in /etc/modules-load.d/*.conf
To no avail. I dont know how to activate the built-in keyboard of my macbook pro.
Is there anyone that, please can lend me a hand or point out where to find info about the setup/configuration of a macbook pro 7.1.
Best regards!!!
UPDATE: Sorry guys, made a mistake when identifying the laptop, it's a MacBook Pro 5,3 not a 7,1 version. Changed subject.
