That's OK. For your information, my "solution" was to install the GTK2 version of DeaDBeeF (AUR package "deadbeef-gtk2") and the Qt package for Transmission ("transmission-qt").

Transmission and DeaDBeeF are GTK3 applications (unless you installed a special version from the AUR).
I saw similar behaviour. I think the problem is you are using a GTK3 theme that is incompatible with the recent GTK 3.8 release (a few days ago).
mm, I was completly wrong, sorry. Anyway, I use default adwaita theme. However, It only happend from some days ago and not from the first time gnome shell was upgraded to 3.8. I guess some package upgraded after the release is broken but I don't know wich.
