Thanks for sticking with me on this ... Yes, it's plugged into CD in.. I'll try muting it via alsamixer tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks!
KF
is it an analogue or digital connection, again on this card there are options to change this, I would leave the gnome-mixer as is and alter via alsamixer in a term use up to change the entries and m to mute/unmute

I do have a video option, but it won't let me turn it down.. Each time I try to pull it down, it just goes straight back to the top... I'm using GNOME for my DE. I'm at work now and can't post mixer settings.. I'll post as soon as I get home tonight..
Thanks!
KF

I'm guessing mpie is on the right track, but I've tried so many ALSA combo's, I'm totally stuck.. Playback of any sounds, including TV is perfect. My audio is integrated Realtek 850... I could go cheap SB Live route, but I'm not sure I have to.. I'm betting I just have a setting incorrect.
Help!

]]>Thanks for the suggestion.. I have tried turning capture all the way down, but the feedback still persists..
THanks
John
My mobo has integrated sound ALI5455 - it uses the snd_intel8x0 Alsa driver. I have audio playback including dmix working perfectly.
But, when I try to record from my TV card using both Zapping and MythTV, the audio on my captures have horrible feedback.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
