MTP is a big mess.
Implementation is a bunch of fixes and patches to make things work. I don't know what broke my setups, but i can understand why!
]]>Jul 27 13:44:33 localhost mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 9 was not an MTP device
It appears to me as soon as i connect the camera/phone
thanks!
-EDIT
Nexus is another story, for me mtp works for some devices (sansa clipzip mp3 reader works), and not for others (galaxy s2, canon powershot sx200 is)
]]>THanks, but correct me if i'm wrong:
all that packages relies on libmtp, (i just tried mtpfs, same issue).
and the message in my logs saying the camera is not an mtp device are from mtp-probe ; part of the libmtp package.
I think that the root of the problem is right in the libmtp, but i wonder if i'm doing something wrong or libmtp is just broken and i should report this upstream. My system is upgraded, so libmtp is the latest; i also tried libmtp-git.
Anybody with a working "samsung galaxy s2" or "canon powershot sx200 is" mtp connection?
I have the same problem as you:
using mtp with a samsung galaxy s2 does not work anymore. Last time it worked was about 2 weeks ago. Not sure what changed.
My system is upgraded, so libmtp is the latest; i also tried libmtp-git.
Anybody with a working "samsung galaxy s2" or "canon powershot sx200 is" mtp connection?
]]>mtp-detect only detects the sansa clipzip; nothing about the camera or the phone.
my system is fully upgraded and i can reproduce the issue on 3 different arch machines (a laptop, a desktop and a netbook)
Any hint or some idea to debug please?
-EDIT-
Tried as root, and got the same.
-EDIT
As soon as i attach the camera:
tail -f /var/log/everything.log
Jul 27 13:44:33 localhost kernel: [11997.652330] usb 1-6: new high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci
Jul 27 13:44:33 localhost mtp-probe: checking bus 1, device 9: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-6"
Jul 27 13:44:33 localhost mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 9 was not an MTP device
...but it IS an mtp-device
