Myth is decent once you set it all up. The Music module needs some work but gets the job done.
But if your just going to use it for movies and music might be better off with something other than myth. Take a look at

I haven't used them but might be an alternative to myth.

I recently built a myth box with their LC10M enclosure. Comes with irsensor and iMON remote which has LIRC support.
They have some really nice products but are little pricey.
]]>My brother recently set up some kind of media frontend on his xbox and uses that to get content from a server, and its quite impressive. I guess the other option is to get some kind of mini pc and use mms or myth as a frontend.
Does anyone have experience setting up either of these solutions - any thoughts, advice, or tips would be recommended. If it will be best to get a mini pc, hardware advice would also be appreciated.
