Hi, from 2 last versions (after upgrade) I can't boot into beyond , it runs splash screen and writes "initialising kernel" and hangs nothing happens. Hardware is HP nx 6110 with Centrino, any help?
I have the same problem: it's stop loading initramfs and the only way to boot is keep press a key. In log-in screen, I notice that the curson don't blink and the sustem seem stuck and slow. With the older version of beyond kernel i had non problem.
]]> pacman -Qf kernel26beyond
kernel26beyond 2.6.16.beyond4.1-1.1
wich is just a recompile with glibc2.4/gcc4.1.1 under x86_64 had a heavy crash here today.
first i had only very poor pci performance watching dvb tv and burning dvd at the same while running boinc/seti in the background. i had lots of buffer underruns while bruning and the dvb picture was often frozen. but no error messages in any logfile. then the whole system hang up. even no ssh remote login was possible.
now i'm back with stock kernel were all is fine and pci performance is ok now again.
no idea if it is caused by the ck-patchset or from another patch. i never had such problems with old archck-kernels.

]]>just tried to boot up and all i get is a blank screen with and without vesafb here is my grub config
You might try a smaller resolution and here is my entry:
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26beyond root=/dev/hda2 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1024x768-32@60 splash=silent,theme:darch quiet console=tty1 ro
initrd /boot/initramfs-beyond.img
After download in arch, ran /sbin/lilo -v for new kernel version and mkinitcpio -g /boot/rays.img. (cpio2)
Rebooted to beyond kernel and ran mkinitcpio -g /boot/ray.img. (cpio)
Neither of the two reboots to cpio kernels rebooted...received kernel panic on both.
Suspect it is a repeat of the ext3 problem resolved earlier with klibc changes.
]]>title Arch Linux Beyond
root (hd0,3)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26beyond root=/dev/sda4 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1280x1024-24@70 ro
initrd /boot/initramfs-beyond.img
gensplash bug in beyond4? kernelpanic...could not find init...
made fresh mkinitramfs with blank fbsplash_theme and my system booted fine!
it's a wierd bug. give mkinitcpio a shot instead of mkinitramfs,
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Con … mkinitcpio
it should work quite a bit better.. and will boot.
as for the aforementioned ATI problems, give the latest update a shot, its got a lot of bugfixes.

]]>Am trying to recompile the latest beyond kernel because of the new gcc and glibc from testing but it complains i need the "config-x86_64.patch". Where can i find it? Its not in the sources folder.
Thanks
It's there, make sure your cvs is pulled up to date.
]]>Thanks.
]]>Switching from CK to Beyond too, works great with ATI drivers.
Just one weird problem : in console mode the text cursor (carret ?) is invisible, which is pretty annoying in vi
I have the same problem, does anybody have some kind of solution to this?
]]>running beyond now for 2 days. Everything is ok,
but this kernel is not so responsive like the archck.
You could run 2-3 programs with each one eating 100% cpu power
and the system was stil responsive under archck.
I can´t do that with beyond. Everything start to lag.
