Hope everyone had a happy new year.

I can write packages to a cd or usb drive for offline/ no network access computers.
Here is what I am trying to accomplish:
Computer 1 - Arch Linux installed on local SSD and Hard Drive is /home
Computer 2 - Actually Arch Linux installed on a Sandisk 64GB flash drive.
Can I use something like this: CacheDir = /run/media/robert/c396b704-0051-4482-a483-d9accb1a61e5/var/cache/pacman/pkg
on the usb drive, so pacman will look to the local SSD install for updates, and avoid re-downloading the packages. This way I can also prevent pacman from writing packages to the USB Drive.
Feel like there is something I'm missing reading that post.
