PD: polybar was not showing because the new drivers change the names of the displays.
EDIT: For some reason I can't edit the title of the main post, I will try to mark it as solved tomorrow.
]]>deleted /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d and /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d
Did you mean the entire directories, every single file in them?
Incl. /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf or /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf ??

Right now I can't install another WM but as soon as I can I will try with I3 and post the results here.

Please post the script and also try another WM (openbox), though the inability to switch the VT doesn't sound like it's client related.

]]>uninstalled the xf86-video-intel, but that give me an error and I couldn't start the graphical environment.
The reason for the latter is probably some file in /{etc/X11,usr/share}/xorg.conf* that calls for the intel driver and needs to be altererd/removed as well.
]]>Edit: it seems that strace was lost to the standard output. The captured strace I was thinking of was from after disabling at-spi. Nonetheless, it has been a couple weeks and the previously consistent laginess has not returned for me. YMMV
