I suppose the $- way should work, but I found that $- = himBH for both logins and terms... so somethings probably screwed up on my computer.. :

Doing this in my .bashrc file has the side effect of trying to start X and fetchmail every time a terminal is opened. Is there any other way to have a users specified login script?
