Would like for example linux-ck kernel but with added reiser4 support, that would be awesome. Edward and the guys released the reiser4 patches yesterday to support 3.15.1.
]]>I actually used reiserfs once at work.
This thread is about Reiser 4.
]]>It still seems to suffer the same problem as Reiser3, though, slow mounting/unmounting.
]]>What can I say? It still runs and does its job. Although I don't work there anymore, my former boss tends to keep me posted on which of my projects turned out to be toast and which ones still run like a charm. That reiser partition has to suffer millions of small files being read and written chaotically every second. I didn't even have to think much about the size of the journal or whether to put it on a seperate disk and now the system is way more performant in this specific scenario than before with ext3.
]]>anyway I never test reiser4
]]>Im planning to move my /var onto a reiser4 for speed and compression mainly but have also thought about migrating my root and home partitions too it also, though i have conserns about the stability of the file system in general, so im wondering if anyone is uing reiser4 with the arch system.
Use Reiser 3 for /var, Shirley? Why Reiser 4?
I was "uing" Reiser 4 under Gentoo a few years ago. With my spinning disks it was remarkably quiet in disk activity with impressive performance. One day my system would not boot, and I eventually discovered that many of my OS files were filled with ASCII zero bytes.
Since then I have used only ext4 and reiserfs. I would not trust any immature file system, including BTRFS, for a reliable workable system.
In the past I would have murdered to be able to use Reiser 4 in dead earnest, but now ZFS looks like the way to go.

Reiserfs is not being maintained to my knowledge and Hans Reiser was creepy trust me so yuk!rufus, as has been mentioned in other threads, please think before posting. This contributes nothing to the discussion, especially a 5 year old thread.
But it is always good to know, that I will never have to scroll up further than three posts to see a "Reiser4 will kill your family" post. It's one of the constants in this universe of variables.

We tend to treat non-support threads with a little more latitude. We don't like necrobumps on support threads because things change so fast and 'new' solutions mixed with 'old' solutions muddy the waters and confuse things. Discussion threads, not so much.
