Hi,
I have strange problem, I tried hwd and afterwards when I boot up, my screen resolution is too small (1024x768).
How can I tweak my...
Hwd gives 1024x768. To edit X config in /etc/X11/ run:
# xf86cfg -textmode (for XFree86)
# xorgcfg -textmode (for Xorg)
I have the same problem. First time I start Gnome, it comes up as 1024. (on a side note, the nvidia spalsh screen comes up as the correct res, 1280.)
my xorg.conf file:
Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "HP" ModelName "HP Pavilion f1903" HorizSync 30.0 - 82.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 75.0 Option "DPMS" "true" # 1280x1024 @ 75Hz (VESA) hsync: 80.0kHz ModeLine "1280x1024" 135.0 1280 1296 1440 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync EndSection

Try removing the stuff from the x.org file that you don't need..in the screen section...

see if that makes a difference...
oh, make a backup before you begin fiddling too of course
start gnome-display-properties and check what is the default there
it's
1280x1024
I'm puzzled..

On first time it'll go only to 1024x768. When I restart gdm it'll work.
