All i had to do was install that lib and then delete all the .gnome releated config stuff in my home dir for it to be up and running...
I must've completely glazed over that previous post...
Again... Sorry...
Edit, now i've noticed my sound is dead... arggghhh
]]>The gnome splash won't go away until you click on it... no biggie.. but still a bug...
I've had similar "problems" since 2.4 - I don't think it's a bug.
]]>Nautilus still isn't working for me... Which means gnome is very much broken....
Tried a test user... tried a Pacman -Syf gnome gnome-extra
I hope this gets sorted out soon...
try running it in the console and make sure you install libgsf, it is reported as a bug.
About the applets i can't seem to reproduce it, all of my systems work just fine.

]]>The "Show Desktop" applet appears to have died unexpectedly.
Do you want to reload this applet?
(If you choose not to reload it at this time you can always add it by right clicking on the panel and clicking on the "Add to Panel" submenu)
and I get it for "window list", "window selecter" and "workspace switcher" as well... it's not harmful, but it's annoying...
]]>So your Gnome 2.8 is fully functional? IE you have desktop icons etc? And Nautilus is working?
Yeah, I have desktop Icons, the themes are not working right though. I have themes but in the selection process there is no preview. Some files such as rtf or doc files do not open when you click on them but mp3 and other files will execute properly.
