do you havve "/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/40-libcanberra-gtk-module"?

see if it contain "canberra-gtk-module"
are you using OSSv4?

]]>I use XFCE 4.61 on Arch Linux i686. I try to enanle sound events in the
preferences. The depending packages libcanberra and
freedesktop-sound-theme are installed. I googled, but can´t find a
solution.
Can anybody help...?
