I am hit by this problem http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=82060 which causes a 15 sec delay before gnome gets loaded, the solution is to disable the floppy drive from the bios and blacklist the floppy module. I have disabled the floppy from the mobo bios and added !floppy in my modules array but still the floppy module gets loaded. I have even added a custom-blacklist.conf file under /etc/modprobe.d/ and added "blacklist floppy"(without quotes) in the file but still the floppy module gets loaded and causes that delay before gnome loads. So is there any other way to blacklist the module?

Soumyadeep,
you can insert !floppy in the MODULES section of /etc/rc.conf .
Perhaps it helps.
