(SOLVED) Awesome WM and removable storage devices

I am using Awesome WM, no DE, and no display manager for logging in. I have installed ntfs-3g and my NTFS HD partitions auto mount perfect. I don't use Hal and it's not even installed. I do have dbus on my daemons.

I tried the udev wiki, I applied the scripts for removable devices. When I insert my USB, the USB blinks and I know the computer is 'reading' it but it doesn't appear in my FM (Ranger) or qtfm.

I checked mtab and nothing is different before or after the insertion.

Is this problem in udev? Should I go back and mess with the scripts more?

I also want to be able to see the storage on my phone (an Android phone with a micro SD card).

I haven't tried the phone yet because even the flash USB isn't being displayed.

I can't provide much info here (I am at work) so I tried to explain what I have done and what I have noticed.

Thanks for any input! This is one of the last problems I need to solve on my Arch box~

Is there a USB device even being recognized (ie /dev/sdb1)? Can you manually mount it/have you done so in the past?

I'm guessing you can, just wondering.

Re: (SOLVED) Awesome WM and removable storage devices

Do you know if ranger or qtfm are supposed to show you mounted devices?

Even if they're not listed in your file manager's UI, the USB devices may actually have mounted properly. Look for them under /media or /mnt.

Re: (SOLVED) Awesome WM and removable storage devices

Thanks, I didn't see it under mnt or media. I redid some udev rules (for some reason they didn't save?) I think it's fixed.

Thanks!
