Didn't find boot device --- USB Boot!

Hello there,
im back to trying to understand and install arch linux on my hp mini 210 netbook.
Once i boot from the newest iso, it gets to a part where it says
Waiting 30 seconds for boot device...
It waits 30 seconds and then says
Didn't find boot device, fix manually, etc, etc.
Then sticks me into ramfs

Ive tried other solutions posted in this board and numerous others, like typing something like
lm -sd /dev/sdb1
then exit

nothing works though!
Please help sad

Re: Didn't find boot device --- USB Boot!

Well I had this problem as well and I'll try to explain the solution as best I can. Depending on whether you are installing the dual architecture or single architecture the solution might be slightly different but you need to find the syslinux.cfg file on your usb drive and open it up with a text editor and edit the line that says archisolabel= and change what comes after the = to whatever your usb drive is labeled. If you used Universal USB Installer to copy the files then your usb drive is probably labeled PENDRIVE. Otherwise you could simply rename the usb drive itself to whatever it says after the = sign. I hope this makes sense but let me know otherwise and I'll try to clarify.

P.S. If you are using the dual architecture iso then you need to relabel both the i686 and x86-64 entries in your syslinux.cfg file.

Re: Didn't find boot device --- USB Boot!

Well I'm not sure what file manager you use but when you plug the drive in your usb port the file manager should come up automatically. When it does it should show you the contents of the drive and on the left side it will show a list of devices and folders and whatever one is your usb drive, it will show the drive label. Mine for example is PENDRIVE.

P.S. Now if you have access to a Windows pc  you can also run windows explorer and look under my computer and whatever drive your usb drive comes up as, such as E: or F: etc... the name next to that drive letter is the label of your usb device and that is the name that needs to go in syslinux.cfg.

Re: Didn't find boot device --- USB Boot!

That is correct. What you want is the name given next to the drive letter K:  Also what arch iso file did you download?

Re: Didn't find boot device --- USB Boot!

Download unetbootin then follow this entry on the wiki:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Put … UNetBootin

The solution to your problem is there, namely the part after

Correct the "archisolabel=" parameter to reflect the label of the USB drive you used, i.e.:

It worked with the regular 64-bit core iso, not sure about the other iso's.
