wlan0??

My wireless card has been switching around interfaces from eth1 to wlan0 from time to time.  It seems to be stuck on wlan0 as of late which is kindof a hassle because when i try and put the interface up it gives me:

# ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

what am i doing wrong?

Re: wlan0??

that usually means you're using the wrong driver or that driver isn't configured correctly

More than likely you're just missing the firmware. Install the 'linux-firmware' package from [core] and that should fix your problem.

Re: wlan0??

You can bind the device id with mac address using a udev rule. But yes, you would still need appropriate firmware to get it up and running.
