same tmux session in different terminals doing different things

hi smile
i'm trying to get tmux set up so that i have two terminals on two different monitors both logged into the same tmux session that i can do different things on. the way i've tried to do it - by creating a new session named 'foo', then attaching a new session to 'foo' from a seperate terminal on the second monitor - results in both terminals doing and showing exactly the same thing. maybe i've misunderstood how tmux works and what it can do. should i just be creating a seperate tmux session for each terminal/monitor?

thanks for your time

You can share windows between sessions with tmux, so you should be able to create two different tmux sessions that have all the same windows.
