PC spontaneously rebooting?

i keep my arch up to date and keep my PC turned on normally.  On 2 occasions recently I have seen it back at the slim login screen, so either the PC is spontaneously rebooting or logging me out.

does anyone else have this issue?  what can i do to investigate further?

thanks.

Re: PC spontaneously rebooting?

Maybe you have problems with hardware? Chipset overheating... Power Supply is dying... Low outlet voltage...

Re: PC spontaneously rebooting?

Do something like "sudo grep 'Linux version' /var/log/messages.log" to check if your machine has been booting at strange times.

Re: PC spontaneously rebooting?

ok, there's something wrong with the pc... sad

i saw in bios the cpu was running a bit warm (~55C) so i thought i'd reapply some thermal paste.  now it fails to post.  wtf.

did it again, still the same... sad
