Re: Virus

Are you running windows or Arch?

If you're on Arch then you're probably on a 'scare' website which tells you you have a virus then gives you a trojan/virus to install. What website are you visiting?

If you're on windows then you're in the wrong place asking the wrong question.

Re: Virus

Google reveals that to be a scam to trick people into installing spyware (for Windows of course). What web pages is firefox loading at startup? It may also be a rogue extension.

Re: Virus

I would just do a rm -rf .mozilla/firefox .mozilla/extensions

You'll have to setup firefox again, so make sure your bookmarks are back'd up

Re: Virus

..why would you do that? why are you even believing one of these stupid sites. why do you think a winblows virus can even harm an arch machine.

A helpful reply would be good. Failing that, just leaving the topic alone is good as well. No need to rant in this manner, if the poster is out of line report it to the mods and we'll handle it.

To the OP, are you re-using a firefox profile?

Re: Virus

How about we wait for the screenshot so we're all on the same page with this...? A picture is worth 1,000 words, so let's save the words.

I thought chris-kun was replying to the post that suggested deleting the extensions directory, though quoting normally helps remove ambiguity.
FWIW I wouldn't delete anything (yet) - based on what we know so far - either. Though as has been said, a screenshot would be useful.
