File System for SD Disk

Hello,
I've got an eeePC 900a with an 8GB Flash Memory.

Is there any stable filesystem, optimized for flash memories, ArchLinux can be easily installed on?

I used to have a NILFS2 filesystem on such disk, it was really fast, a lot more than ext4 or the other common filesystem (optimized for mechanical disks), and installing Arch on it was pretty easy.
Nevertheless it had a few flaws: I had to manually run the garbage collector to avoid disk saturation, because it couldn't be ran by `mount' since my /usr (and thus the cleanerd binary) was on the same NILFS2 filesystem... One day I ran the garbage collector twice by mistake, and the filesystem B-tree blew up...

I don't think so... btrfs but that's not stable yet.

Re: File System for SD Disk

No good...
So, BTRFS and NILFS2 are the only SSD-friendly filesystem available?
In this case I'd rather choose one of those (the responsivity gap was tangible, and anyway all of the data on that SSD is backup'd on my desktop...).

It's hard to find benchmarks between BTRFS and NILFS2.
Is there anybody who tried both filesystem and can say something about their performance or safety?

By the way: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a … mode&num=1 it's on a quite old kernel tho...

Re: File System for SD Disk

Perhaps you would be interested in CTKArchLive which is ~500MB in size.

It can be loaded to flash drive and in addition be copied to ram.

I use it often and address this post from that mode.

My use is in 64bit and I use faster flash (CF).

The use of "live" flash is stable as a rock.

A new version of the OS is due this month, date not yet determined.

It is downloaded and installed with DD.

Worth a try out, check the arch wiki for CTK details.
