Configure the number of lines to scroll with my mouse wheel?

I thought this would be a fairly common problem, but I couldn't find anything when I searched so maybe not... My problem is when I scroll with the mouse wheel on my Microsoft wireless mouse, I scroll about 30 lines.  I'd like to scroll much less, but I can't figure out how.  I tried putting a the VertScrollDelta option in my xorg.conf, but that hasn't changed anything.  So how does everyone else configure that?

Thanks!

i suppose it may depend on what DM you use.

for kde: System Settings/Hardware/Input Devices/Mouse/Advanced -> "Mouse wheel scrolls by"

Right, sorry.  I'm using Awesome, so I doubt there's a way to configure it through my WM.

Anybody have any idea how to do this in Xfce? Or is this something handled by the Xorg config?

I've changed the number of lines to scoll by in Firefox, but it's not the only program I use scrolling with!
