All that you can really do now is compile a custom kernel, with all the experimental/optional power saving stuff turned on, and stuff you don't need stripped out.

Use google or just read through the options yourself. There's comments on all of them (use make xconfig, easier probably).

Then after i do that, just use mkinitcpio to regenerate the kernel? Or what?

Again, your question can be answered by google.
mkinitcpio is a step you do after you have recompiled your kernel. It is not related to the kernel config, rather the initrd.
