root partition filled up?

Hey there.  I have a dual boot set up on one of my pcs between arch and windows xp.  I've been using xp for a week or so and when I went to boot back into arch I ran into several problems.  First off x wouldn't start and upon further inspection it seems the root partition is filled.  Im getting "/var/run/dbus.pid no space left" at boot and even midnight commander complains about there being no space left.  I don't think the partition is really completely full though, is there anyway i can hunt down the problem?  I searched around and found many posts about pacman using up all thier space but thats not the case as I have no *.part files in my /var/pacman dir.

I think this topic fits better into the Newbie Corner, moving.

Re: root partition filled up?

part files? Likely your /var/cache/pacman/pkg is taking up all the space. Best uninstall a biggish package (libre or open office) and install xdiskusage. Very convenient for visualising a file system...
