compress (not gzip!)

Please correct me if I am mistaken but it looks like compress is just a wrapper for gzip.  Instead of deflating/inflating .Z files it works with .gz files.  Is there a way to get the old-school compress on Arch Linux?

Thanks in advance!

Re: compress (not gzip!)

Make a PKGBUILD for http://ncompress.sourceforge.net/ (hope it's the correct website / app).

The difference between gzip and compress is not about the suffixes but the algorithms used - 'man gzip' for details.
