arch linux and 3ware Raid

Hi, I've installed arch linux on a RAID 1 hardware RAID from 3ware.

The installations works fine, but after I reboot Grub can't find the 3WARE and I can't boot Arch linux.

Any ideias how to include 3ware on the kernel ? I've added the 3w_9xxx to modprobe but didn't work.

Any sugestions ?

Thank you

Re: arch linux and 3ware Raid

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

On the file /etc/mkinitcpio.conf I have the default hooks:

base,udev,autodetect,pata,scsi,sata,filesystems.

The strange is that the liveCD boots and see the 3ware and I can install to it.

But when I reboot and try to boot from de 3ware it always give the following error:

Error15: File Not Found

Re: arch linux and 3ware Raid

That seems more of a grub error. Are you sure that grub is accessing the right disk? Boot partition with ext2?

Re: arch linux and 3ware Raid

Hi, outerdark you are absolutely right this is a Grub problem.

For some strange reason grub can't find the 3ware after a reboot, it looks like grub becomes confused with all the disks I have.

I have tried a lot distributions (Opensuse, Ubuntu, Debian, FreeBSD and Debian) and all suffered from the same problem.

I only bypassed this problem using FreeBSD or using the grub 2 from Ubuntu to boot the distribution directly from the 3ware.

This looks like a grub only problem nothing to do with arch Linux.

I will search on the grub mailing list about this problem.

Thank you for your help.
