Windows only BIOS update from Linux?

i recently bought an Acer Aspire TimelineX. after getting most things up and running on Arch i realized that i need to update the bios to get acpi working.

of course Acer on distributes updates in the form of Windows batch files.

ive already wiped out both the stock install of Windows it shipped with and the recovery partition. I don't really feel like pirating a copy of windows just to run this little batch file.

is there any other way that you guys know of that will work 100%?

i believe this machine was on clearance from newegg.. i cant return it if anything happens. i need to be sure.

Re: Windows only BIOS update from Linux?

I used biosdisk to update my bios in a dell machine before writing up that wiki page. Worked like a charm.

biosdisk is actually made by Dell employees for the very purpose. I was also told by the author that it "should" work for any other machine as well since all the software did was to flash the bios with a new file. Good luck.
