Not shutting down properly..

Hello Im at lost as how I am to fix my current issue. When I shutdown I get these messages..

umount /dev/sda5 - remounted as read only (/usr)
umount /var - device is busy
and something along the lines of user lsof or  fuser.

When I start the laptop I get a bunch of

trans replayed messages..when it does a check on the /var partition

Any help is much appreciated

Could you please post the output of dmesg and also the contents of /var/log/wtmp

Wow, not what I was hoping for lol.
How about /var/log/boot.log
Also, do you have /var on it's own partition?

I dont seem to have a boot.log and yes /var is on its own partition.
