no wireless bcom4401 adapter [SOLVED]

Hey everyone,

Long time ubuntu user now a first time arch installer.  I am having zero success getting my wireless running with a BCOM4401 wireless adapter and was hoping for some help.

I've downloaded various drivers form this site and have had no luck with the windows drivers and a ndiswrapper; always "Invalid driver".  The make command fails when I try the linux driver.

Anyone have any advice?   Thanks.

There's no such thing as a wireless device "BCOM4401".
What you are referring to is a "BCM4401" Ethernet card and it should work out of the box.
Use this guide to get it to work: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drive … full_story
Basically what you need to do is:

b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware/ /path/to/wl_apsta.o (from firmware archive - 4.80.53.0)
modprobe b43

After mucking with the networkmanager for awhile and your advice I've managed to get it.

Thanks Archman-Cro
