For some time now running konsole has failed to work properly.
After calling the executable it takes about a minute until I get a konsole-window with the following information in a black font with red/orange background:
Warning: Could not start program '/bin/bash' with arguments '/bin/bash'.
This has started since I upgraded to 2.6.37. What could cause this behavior?
2.6.37-ARCH x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (Sandy Bridge) with latest kde.

I sometimes get this too. At one point I couldn't get konsole to start at all and had to revert to xterm to get stuff done. In the end I deleted the konsolerc file (can't remember exactly where is is stored off the top of my head, I'm on a windows box at the moment) and it started working again.
I still do get that error every now and again though. I then have to kill of a "kdeinit" process to get konsole working again. "ps ax | grep konsole" in xterm will show you the kdeinit process you need to kill.

you can find konsolerc in:
.kde4/share/config/konsolerc
do you try reinstalling it?
