[Solved] Grub dual boot with extended partition

I've reinstalled windows and for some reason this time it decided to create an extended partition with its install partition within it (the only thing inside it).  The extended partition is now sda1 (which previously WAS the Windows partition before reformat). Now the windows partition is sda4 within the sda1 extended partition, however when I put (hd0,3) in the menu.lst for grub, when I boot I get Error 12: Invalid device requested.  Is there a special way to enter extended partitions in the grub menu?

Re: [Solved] Grub dual boot with extended partition

Can you paste the content of your menu.lst file please.
Also will be a good idea to show your partition table, run parted as root:

sudo parted

Then use print command when you're on parted mode:

(parted) print

Re: [Solved] Grub dual boot with extended partition

Well I used gparted to remove the extended partition and I made 1 ntfs partition and this time the windows cd decided it WOULD install to the partition so it seems to be ok now.
