Thanks for that guys - you should take into account the time-zone of the registering user maybe? 
took me a good few minutes to realise it was't my hash that was wrong - it was the wrong hash!
14Linux rather than 15Linux (oy!)

Actually it does. `date -u` returns the UTC time, which is the same no matter where in the world you are.
