my pc shutdowns suddenly

Hi, well, im a little frustated with this thing that is happening to me, i have a LOT of homework, but my pc shutdowns whenever it likes.
I know that isnt a hardware temperature issue, because the PC recieves an shutdown signal, like when you do "sudo shutdown". it appears the gnome message "the system will now shut down". I formatted once because I was thinking that was KDE fault, but I notice that this started to happen when I updated to kernel .38-2, I just did a gnome fresh install and its the same, still shutting down. Please, I dont want to switch to Windows again (in windows this not happen)

Re: my pc shutdowns suddenly

you can temporarily downgrade to your previous kernel, until some one gives you a real solution.

Re: my pc shutdowns suddenly

I have the same problem (also with earlier kernel versions) but only when using flash for a while. It does not happen very often, therefore I have not really looked into it but it is a nuisance. I use the 64 bit flashplugin-prerelease from the AUR.

@jorgemuela - perhaps your problem is similar to mine. Do you have a browser open when the PC shuts down?

[Edit - It only happens on my laptop by the way (ATI graphics), not on my desktop (nvidia).]

Re: my pc shutdowns suddenly

Can you post some more information about your system? Perhaps our problem is the same and we can pinpoint it and file a bug report in the proper place.
It might be related to the ATI card since it doesn't happen on my desktop with nvidia (which is fairly similarly configured). Possibly the flashplugin-prerelease and ATI don't play nice? BTW, I use Chromium as my browser.

It is probably not a KDE problem since I have no DE installed, just Openbox as WM.
