Help on Installation

I am new to Arch, but have been using Ubuntu for the last few months and getting my feet wet with linux.  I am trying to install arch onto an 8GB thumb drive, installation seems to go fine, but when I reboot I get an "Error 15: File Not Found" right away before anything can boot.  Doesn't say which file is not found, and as I am somewhat new, I'm not sure where to look for this.  I am installing 100MB for /boot, 256 for /Swap 6000 for /root and ~1200 or whatever is left over for /home and the grub is on the thumb drive so I don't have to see it if I don't have the thumb drive in.  (I am 99% sure those numbers are correct).  Let me know if you need any more info to help me with this.  I have tried re-downloading the ISO, and I have tried multiple DVD's.  It is the X86_64 version of 2010.05

Re: Help on Installation

I tried to.  I am going to follow it step by step tonight and see if there was something I missed.

Re: Help on Installation

Some more tips:

- the arch wiki has a page about installing to thumb drives
- google error messages
- use UUID (persistent naming) for menu.lst and fstab

Awesome.  Thanks a lot.  There is some useful information in here that I actually was wondering about.

Re: Help on Installation

I have installed Ubuntu to a USB thumb drive and had no problem, I just basically set that as the hard drive during the installation.  I know it won't be this easy in Arch which is why I want to try it.  I want a Linux distro that is a bit more involved than Ubuntu so I have to play with it to get it to look nice and the way I want it.  I have Ubuntu on my hard drive currently and have a 500GB usb drive.  Would the USB drive be easier to install Arch onto than a thumb drive?
